FASHION FOCUS: Elin Kling

01

Before there were fashion bloggers there was Elin Kling. The Swedish blogger and former fashion editor started her blog Style by Kling in 2007 because her friend “forced her to”. We think she owes that friend a massive drink because within two days of launching she was Sweden’s largest blog. Ever since then she’s gone on to co-found Fashion Networks International, is the owner of one of the world’s leading online fashion platforms NOWMANIFEST (which houses blogs by Anna Dello Russo and Derek Blasberg) and she’s also the fashion director of her own magazine, STYLEBY. Kling’s a favourite with big name fashion brands such as H&M and Guess both of which she collaborated with to launch her own capsule collections. She’s also appeared in campaigns for Louis Vuitton and NET-A-PORTER.

Kling’s style is laidback yet polished. Her go-to pieces are black blazers and leather jackets, jeans and silk blouses all worked back with structured heels or boots. She favours black and neutrals, but will on occasion add a pop of colour to add interest to an outfit. It’s a fashion equation that works, and clearly there’s nowhere else but up for one of the world’s biggest style bloggers.

TRENDING: The new, the cool and all the things to love right now

_
‣ In a pairing that’s made the little girls in us squeal with glee, Christian Louboutin has teamed up with Disney to design a special “Cinderella” slipper to coincide with the global release of Cinderella The Diamond Edition on Blu-ray this October. Louboutin has said of the collaboration: “Isn’t it everyone’s dream, to once in your life [be] part of a fairy tale? Walt Disney Studios gave me a wonderful opportunity to live this magical moment. I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world.” If Cinderella’s glass slippers had been red-soled Louboutins, we’re betting she wouldn’t have lost them quite so easily…

‣ Too many diffusion lines are never enough with news that Helmut Lang is now designing a collection of trusty basics. Rather aptly titled “Helmut” and the capsule collection will contain everything from tanks and tees to leggings and maxi dresses. Have a look at helmutlang.com.

‣ Judging from the number of well-dressed people congregating in Sydney, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week has well and truly started. Day one saw shows by Gary Bigeni, Kirrily Johnston, Romance was Born (loving their Marvel-inspired collection), Ksubi and Ginger and Smart. Today’s shows will include SOMEWEAR favourites Zimmermann, Maticevski and Magdalena Velevska. You can start to play the celebrity spotting game as celebs such as Whitney Port, Rachel Taylor and Lara Bingle are said to be checking out the shows. If you’re more into fame of the blogger kind, Candice Lake, Bryan Boy, Rumi Neely, Elin Kling and Susie Bubble are also in attendance.
